TALKS
Talk 1: Think Like a Cat: How to Stand Out in the Age of AI Applications by Rose Farrell
Description:
(25m) Job hunting is stressful, confusing and, at times, absolutely awful.
AI has made it incredibly easy to fire off hundreds of polished applications. The problem is that everyone else can do that too. Employers are drowning in CVs that look good, say all the right things and sound exactly the same.
After more than ten years in recruitment and thousands of CVs, I’m not going to give you another “blah blah, here’s how to write a CV” talk. There is no magical list of future-proof skills, and moving one bullet point probably won’t change your life.
Instead, we’ll look at how to work out what an employer actually wants, make your evidence difficult to ignore, use AI without sounding like a robot and get through interviews without overthinking every word.
My cat is strangely brilliant at all of this. He knows his worth, targets the right people, persists until he gets what he wants and never takes rejection personally.
Expect practical advice, questionable cat behaviour and far too many cat pictures.
About Rose, Technical Recruiter, Cat Herder, Career Matchmaker
Rose has been a technical recruiter since 2013, which means she has spent over a decade sourcing people across just about every corner of the technical landscape. She is equal parts recruiter, matchmaker, detective, and professional cat herder.
Rose believes recruiting should feel human. She asks direct questions, gives honest feedback, and will always tell you what she actually thinks. No vague corporate waffle, no disappearing acts, and no pretending every role is an “exciting opportunity.”
Her talks bring together practical advice, hard-earned lessons, and plenty of stories about the strange, funny, and occasionally chaotic world of technical recruiting.
TALK 2: lxml for DITA Automation by Riona Nazareth
Description:
(15m) DITA-based documentation environments often require the processing and validation of large volumes of XML content. In this session, we'll explore how the Python lxml library can simplify these tasks by providing powerful tools for parsing, querying, and manipulating XML
About Riona Nazareth, Bentley Systems
Riona Nazareth, an AI Documentation Engineer at Bentley Systems. My work focuses on DITA XML, documentation automation, and AI-driven solutions for content creation and publishing. I'm passionate about using Python and emerging technologies to improve documentation quality and help teams work more efficiently with structured content.
