Friday night of the 517 Hispanic Heritage Weekend moves to the riverfront for the Hispanic Heritage Dance Class & Mixer, a free evening of Bachata, Salsa, Latin music, dancing, food, and socializing on the outdoor patio at Lansing Shuffle.
The evening will feature Merengue and Salsa instruction led by Lorenzo Lopez and Yesenia Murillo, giving attendees an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of two of Latin America's most popular social dance styles before putting those lessons into practice throughout the night.
The dance instruction is designed to be accessible to the community, including guests who have never taken a formal dance class as well as experienced dancers looking to join the social dance environment. Attendees can participate in the lessons, come strictly to dance and listen to music, or simply enjoy the riverfront atmosphere.
Following the instructional portion of the evening, the patio will transition into an open Latin dance mixer featuring a DJ-driven mix of Salsa, Merengue, Latin hits, and dance music until 10:00 PM.
The event takes place on the Lansing Shuffle patio overlooking the Grand River, creating an outdoor setting for dancing and gathering in the center of Downtown Lansing.
Guests will also have access to the restaurants and food vendors located inside Lansing Shuffle, with food and beverages available for purchase throughout the evening.
