🗣️ About the Event:
CUSEC is hosting a tech careers evening ("After the Degree") in Downtown Montreal in support of our January conference! We're bringing together 4 professionals from gaming, education, entrepreneurship, software development, and research backgrounds to share insights with students on what tech careers they can pursue after they graduate.
🇨🇦 About CUSEC:
The Canadian University Software Engineering Conference is referred to by many as the gathering of the future of Software Engineering. Students who are passionate about Software Engineering, from across Canada and diverse concentrations, gather under one roof for three full days to learn from the world's most famous and sought after software engineering speakers, researchers and professionals.
📣 Panelists:
Jhin Lee is a Senior Developer at Unity, a Flutter Google Developer Expert (GDE), and a Codex Ambassador. He contributes to the developer community both globally and in Montreal. He has over 20 years of software development experience.
Vinisha Manek is a software developer at BIXI, Montreal's public bike sharing system. This year, she graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor's in Software Engineering, and began her Master's this fall. During her undergrad, she participated in many hackathons, worked as a teaching assistant and worked on two different research projects, one of which is a paper that is already published.
Vik Singh holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from Concordia University and a Master of Education from the University of Sherbrooke Performa program, where his research focused on game-based learning to enhance student motivation for quality peer feedback. Having supported Performa technically since 2016 before completing his degree in 2025, he now teaches the program's "Pedagogy of Digital Learning" course. He also serves as a Computer Science teacher and Faculty Resource Person at John Abbott College, drawing on a strong background in web and application development.
Zachary Shade got his education at Niagara College in Computer Science. He was the only student of that year to secure a stage placement on his own. After graduation he got a job as a software tester for an automated welding system manufacturer, kicking off a career in software testing. He currently works as the President of Société MGD and during the day he juggles his time between stakeholder communication and programming solutions for his company.
