Every record released in the Netherlands. Every artist still based here. Nothing older than a decade. No classics to hide behind, no imports, no safety net. Just the Dutch scene as it sounds right now, on vinyl.
Lucas is a DJ, promoter and full-time musicologist from Amsterdam. He runs Wicked Wax, the label he started in 2017 that has released a run of rising Dutch artists, rolls with the Ghetto Funk Collective, and co-founded Steppin' Into Tomorrow, the platform built to carry the current Dutch scene to international ears.
In his own words: there is a lot of great music being made here, but not enough people realize it, because public radio and television aren't promoting it. There has been real growth in recent years, and it's time people got introduced to it.
So he's bringing the range to prove it. Soul, jazz, funk, hip hop, house and broken beat, all of it made here, telling the story of a contemporary scene and sound.
A soulful evening, and an education. Come listen.
