Sunset Birding at La Jolla Cove
Celebrate the end of Summer with us at California's wildest beach. We'll see our logo bird, Brandt's cormorants, as well as brown pelicans, California gulls, and some sea lions too!
We'll meet at the park on the grass outside the La Jolla Bridge Club, at a viewing point for the Sea Lions, and walk our way towards the caves to see the birds. We'll be moving along the sidewalk, which can be narrow at times, so we'll have to travel in a single or double file line. If you need adaptive mobility equipment, please bring it! If you have binoculars, a scope, or a camera, bring them! This spot and sunset lighting is beautiful for photography especially. Feel free to also bring field guides and/or your Merlin app :)
If you don't have any gear, no worries, La Jolla Cove is the perfect spot for wildlife viewing at a close (but respectful!!!!!) distance.
If you're brand new to birding, you're absolutely welcome to join. You'll be led by experienced birders and questions and curiosity is always welcome.
Parking at the Cove is limited as it is a very popular sunset spot. We encourage carpooling and taking public transit when you can.
