Sex Ed Book Club #2: Women's Anatomy of Arousal - Sheri Winston
Most of us were never really taught what our own arousal is. Not properly. We got a clitoris in a diagram (maybe), a vague mention of "lubrication," and absolutely nothing about the rest of it. So we figured it out on our own. Or didn't. Or assumed something was off with us when our bodies didn't behave the way we'd been told they should.
This book changes that. Women's Anatomy of Arousal by Sheri Winston is a hands-on, body-based guide to the actual anatomy of women's pleasure. The whole erectile network (yes, there's a whole network). How arousal actually builds in the body. What turns us on, physically and energetically, and why so much of what we've been told about women's sexuality is just plain wrong.
If Come As You Are gave us the science of how desire works, this one shows us where it lives in the body, and how to actually feel it.
This evening, we're getting into it together!
What this is:
A women-only, no-pressure online book club where we chat about the most important themes of the book, what surprised us, what cracked something open, and how it lands in real life. Read the whole thing? Amazing. Read half? Welcome. Didn't read it at all but the topic intrigues you? Also welcome. This is not homework. This is a conversation.
A little note on the book itself: This one is full of practical exercises, explorations, and gorgeous illustrations, so I really recommend grabbing a paper copy if you can. That way you can follow all the good stuff visually, mark it up, and actually go explore for yourself between now and the call. The audiobook is great too (narrated by Sheri herself!), but you'll miss the maps. And I'll be bringing my paper copy because I'm a chronic highlighter and I love a marked-up book!
What we'll explore together:
The full anatomy of women's arousal, way beyond the clitoris (spoiler: it's just the tip). The erectile network most of us were never told about. Sheri's concept of "wholistic sexuality" and what it means to integrate body, energy, and pleasure. Female ejaculation, expanded orgasm, and all the things our culture told us were either myths or freak occurrences. And what shifts when we actually have the map.
We'll move through discussion, breakout rooms in smaller groups, and plenty of space to laugh, reflect, and connect. You'll never have to share anything you don't want to. You'll leave with new insights, fresh ideas, and probably more than a few "wait, that exists?!" moments.
The vibe?
Warm. Curious. Shame-free. There will be "wait, WHAT is that body part?!" moments. There will be quiet "oh, that explains so much" realisations. There will be zero judgment, zero pressure, and a whole lot of laughter. You'll leave with a deeper understanding of your own body, and probably wanting to text every woman you love.
Who this is for:
Women who are curious about the themes in Women's Anatomy of Arousal, whether you've read every page, skimmed a chapter, or just heard about the book and want in on the conversation. All experience levels welcome.
