ISLAA Open House

​Join ISLAA on the closing day of its summer exhibitions for an engaging afternoon of art and conversation. Designed for everyone—from first-time visitors to longtime art enthusiasts—the program offers an accessible introduction to four remarkable artistic practices from across Latin America.

​Mariano López Seoane, Director of the Graduate Program and ISLAA Fellow in Latin American Art at the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, will discuss Ulises Beisso: (Hidden) in Plain Sight; Elise Chagas, Ph.D. candidate in Art and Archaeology at Princeton University, will present Yeni and Nan: Genesis; and Ana Luiza de Abreu Claudio, Ph.D. candidate in Latin American and Iberian Cultures at Columbia University, will introduce Chonon Bensho: Biri biri imaboi / Your fingertips will glow.

​Guests are also invited to explore Spotlight: Bernardo Krasniansky, featuring the Paraguayan artist’s experimental Xerox works, as well as the ISLAA Research Center and Bookstore. Refreshments will be served, and a selection of ISLAA publications will be available at a special discount.
