Seattle PMO Group - February 19, 2026: "Building the Next-Generation PMO Workforce"
February Topic:
Building the Next-Generation PMO Workforce: Skills, Hiring Practices & Career Development for Modern PMO Leaders
As PMO leaders, we’re all navigating rapid shifts in expectations — AI-enabled delivery, new stakeholder dynamics, evolving business models, and increasing pressure to build teams that can operate across disciplines. This month, we’ll focus on what it really takes to hire, develop, grow, and retain the project management talent our organizations will need over the 3-5 years.
We’ll explore:
The skills that will define future PM and PMO success
Hiring strategies that look beyond certifications and job titles
What skills can be trained vs. gained only through experience
How to build meaningful development pathways for PMO staff
Performance management, remediation, and role evolution in an AI-driven world
We’ll use our small-group format to compare approaches, share stories, and gather practical ideas you can take back to your teams immediately.
Meetings will follow a round-robin “breakout” format.
Each session will host about 20 participants, who’ll split into groups of ~5 to discuss a focused topic for 45 minutes, then reconvene to share key insights and takeaways.
Whether you’re a seasoned PMO leader or just building your toolkit, you’ll walk away with fresh ideas and practical takeaways.
Most importantly, our group is about connections. These sessions are a chance to network with fellow Seattle-area PMO leaders, swap stories, and recharge with a community that “gets it.”
Please note: This group is designed specifically for current and former PMO Leaders — those with direct people-management experience.
Our round-table format works best when everyone brings real-world insights to the discussion. We’ll be diving into leadership-focused topics like:
Hiring, training, and developing project managers
Navigating executive dynamics
Re-engineering PMO processes
Because the conversation depends on hands-on experience, please join only if you’ve led teams and managed these types of challenges directly.
