SATurday Market - Small Business BTC Adoption
Bitcoin has achieved escape velocity for "Store of Value" but to reach a stable orbit it must also achieve a P2P medium of exchange otherwise we will always be dependent on the fiat banking system and that would be antithetical to the goal/ideal of a monetary revolution.
To start facilitating the "Medium of Exchange" we want to leverage The Space's 70+ members purchasing power to engage/entice local vendors to begin accepting BTC. This will consist of a multi-pronged approach as follows:
1. Get as many of the members "clued in"/aligned with the idea so we don't have prospective caterers inadvertently getting mixed messages from members.
2. Identify potential caterers/restaurateurs close to the Space that we can solicit for a "Request for Catering". Mark Maraia has already created that list. And send them your letter to "Request for Catering". This is step 1 in beginning to build the relationship.
3. Identify 1 establishment per month and then ask the members to patronize that establishment exclusively for that month. And at each instance ask the waiters/proprietors, "do you accept bitcoin yet?". And, can we tip you in bitcoin? If we find a receptive waiter, then ask always to be seated in their station. Tip them well. This is step 2 in building the relationship.
4. Invite any vendor who seems remotely interested to the Space for our next(March) Sats Saturday. Perhaps they would like to bring Samples of their offerings. At these Sat Saturdays we will help them understand the benefits of collaborating with the space and starting to accept BTC:
- Revenue from catering the events.
- Exposure to a 70+ members and all the guests at the events. (Free Marketing)
- First mover on the BTC Map (Free Marketing)
- No Merchant service fees
- Payment in an asset that appreciates against the dollar.
- Hopefully this cements the relationship
- Schedule them for an event at the space
- Field ideas from the Chief Lightning officers as to what are the best/easiest/most bullet proof POS for restaurants.
5. Be prepared to help guide the business owners through the implementation.
6. As the weather gets more inviting, have a "Taste of the Neighborhood" event. With the caveat that the vendors accept BTC at this event.
7. Brainstorm other ideas.
8. At the close of the meeting lets go to Slaters and demo the above protocol.
