Seeds in the Snow: Prairie Plants & the Science of Wintering 🌾❄️🌱
As winter settles in and the land rests beneath snow, we invite you to gather for an evening of reflection, learning, and hands-on care rooted in prairie ecology and seed stewardship.
Seeds in the Snow: Prairie Plants & the Science of Wintering is a community gathering centered on the quiet, powerful work of winter—dormancy, cold stratification, and the relationships that sustain both land and people through the coldest months.
We’ll begin with warm tea or coffee and a reflective seed packet-making practice, guided by the question:
What seeds are you sowing for yourself this winter?
From there, we’ll move into a short panel conversation (approx. 25 minutes) exploring prairie plants, winter ecology, and the science of wintering—followed by a hands-on seed session workshop led by the MN SEED team. Together, participants will contribute to a local seed bank and leave with a small packet of prairie seeds as a tangible reminder that winter’s stillness makes growth possible.
This gathering is designed to be warm, accessible, and welcoming—whether you’re deeply involved in land stewardship or simply curious about seeds, seasons, and care.
