May 27th Westchester County Life Sciences Monthly Networking Event
Westchester County Life Sciences Monthly Networking Event
Our presenter will be James Moe of Oligomerix, sharing insights from his work in the biotechnology space. Oligomerix is a biotech company discovering novel therapeutics for Alzheimer’s and rare neurodegenerative diseases that has completed the clinical portion of its phase 1a clinical program that included single ascending dose, multiple ascending dose, and healthy elderly cohorts, in double blinded, placebo-controlled studies.
James Moe, Ph.D., MBA, Co-founder Oligomerix, Inc., Director, President & CEO, Head of Discovery and Strategy. My work in drug discovery for neurodegenerative diseases spans more than 21 years beginning at Q-RNA, Inc., an early-stage biotech company focused on using RNA ligands to misfold proteins such as PrP and Tau to discover and validate targets for drug discovery for neurodegenerative diseases. At Q-RNA I worked together with Eliot Davidowitz, Ph.D., a co-founder and CSO at Oligomerix, to get it seed financed, after successfully writing and winning an NIH Phase I SBIR grant focused on developing a novel HTS assay to identify inhibitors of tau oligomer formation. To go from target discovery to clinical development, we wrote and won an additional 5 Phase I SBIRs, 10 Phase II SBIRs, 3 Supplementary SBIRs with 3 Fast-track, 1 CRP, 5 Direct to Phase II SBIRs. We advanced 2 compounds into pre-clinical development and 1 compound into clinical development and are completing a phase 1a clinical study for Alzheimer’s disease and progressive supranuclear palsy supported by an R01 grant and two supplements from the NIA of the NIH. We also have had 9 issued US patents, numerous issued international patents and 6 peer reviewed published papers during this time for this program.
This event brings together founders, employees, innovators, investors, and those interested in Westchester’s growing life sciences ecosystem for an evening of networking and discussion.
These gatherings are designed to highlight innovative companies in Westchester while fostering collaboration, partnerships, and meaningful professional connections across the County.
