Waste Methane + Circularity, and How to Finance It

​Methane has driven roughly 30% of global warming to date, and waste generates about 20% of global methane emissions. Yet while organic material makes up 38% of municipal waste globally and is nearly 100% recyclable, only about 6% is composted or anaerobically digested. Just 0.5% of solid-waste methane finance supports this work.

COP31 in November aims to change this.

​The sessions will draw on real-world evidence to identify practical actions and guide policy, financing, and implementation decisions.

​1. Waste Methane + Circularity

​Explore how biowaste diversion and policies such as food EPR can scale biological treatment.
