The Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Multidiscipline Solutions in Africa (CAIMSA) is proud to host the Dodoma Hub of the Global South AI Safety Challenge 2026, an international research hackathon bringing together talented participants from across Africa, Asia, and Latin America to address some of the most important questions in AI safety and governance.
As artificial intelligence rapidly transforms economies, societies, and public institutions, it is critical that perspectives from the Global South help shape its future. This event provides a unique opportunity for students, researchers, engineers, policymakers, and innovators to contribute to cutting-edge research on safe, responsible, and inclusive AI.
Over an intensive weekend, participants will form interdisciplinary teams, explore real-world AI safety and governance challenges, receive mentorship from leading researchers, and develop research projects with the potential to influence global discussions on AI governance.
