January Sabha Deep Dive: Ballads of Bengal

​Sabha means “assembly” — and that’s what we’re trying to be: a gathering spot for South Asian creatives to show off what they’ve been working on! One of Sabha’s goals is to highlight art & artists who transgress boundaries of all sorts. We’ve had some amazing acts around these themes over the past year, and we’re excited to announced a new series of small, focused & intimate gatherings: Sabha Deep Dives, hosted at Bol Coop’s new physical store!

​Our first event is “Ballads of Bengal,” featuring an interactive performance with vocalists Shaandro & Tasneem, who have been key to growing Sabha practically since we started out. In their own words, they will be sharing songs on “themes of humanism, anti casteism, and anti religious extremism in Bengali folk music. The idea is to explain the songs along with singing and connecting to the current affairs in the subcontinent.”

​​​​​​​​We are an inclusive space for creatives of all religions, nationalities, castes, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and other identities and backgrounds.

​​​​​​Doors open at 4:45 and the event will start at 5 PM. Tea & light snacks will be served.

​​​​​Tickets are $15. Please Venmo your payment to @Sathvik-Nair with your name and "1/31 Sabha Ticket". Your registration will be approved after you've Venmoed! Ticket costs will go toward food & the venue, and proceeds will go to mutual aid.

​​​​​The venue is right next to the Brookland Metro station on the Red Line and can also be reached by multiple busses.

​​​​​​​Accessibility information: The entrance is wheelchair-accessible. We strongly recommend wearing a (K)N95 mask and will provide some at the door. Please do not attend if sick/exposed.
