About the Event
💡 Have you heard about the Matilda Effect?
Why have so many women in science been overlooked throughout history?
Which stereotypes and structural barriers still shape STEM today — and why do visibility, representation, and role models matter so much?
Join us for an inspiring and interactive conversation with Elka Xharo, Academic Expert and Lecturer at FH Wien der WKW and creator of the science communication platform The Sciency Feminist.
Together, we’ll explore the stories of forgotten women pioneers in STEM, discuss the challenges women in science continue to face today, and reflect on how communication, community, and visibility can empower future generations.
During the talk, we’ll discuss:
✨ The Matilda Effect and hidden histories of women in STEM
✨ Stereotypes and biases that still exist in academia and tech
✨ The importance of female role models and representation
✨ Science communication as a tool for empowerment and change
✨ Personal experiences, open discussion, and audience exchange
This event is designed to be interactive and welcoming — whether you study STEM, work in academia, or are simply interested in gender equality, science communication, and social impact.
Come join the conversation, share experiences, and connect with others who care about creating a more inclusive future in STEM.
