Mom Brain - A Reading and Conversation with Shayne Terry from "Leave: A Postpartum Account"
We are excited to welcome Brooklyn-based writer Shayne Terry, who will be reading from her book Leave: A Postpartum Account (Autofocus Books, 2025).
A deeply human portrayal of birth trauma that breaks the silence surrounding postpartum pain, Leave has been praised in the Chicago Review of Books as "An important, stunning book that explores complications of healing from a significant birth injury amid a broken health care system and intergenerational trauma, while also examining the link between birth and death."
What is MOM BRAIN?
Each month, we invite a writer to share their own poetry or prose, followed by a loosely facilitated conversation. The session closes with our guest reading a kids’ book of their choice. Like story time, but with books for grown-ups too! Babies and kids welcome, but not required ✨
*Open to parents, caregivers, grandparents, chosen family, the parent curious, etc.
Hosted by Caroline Calvert, Claire Seizovic, and Erica Stern.
