Floating Aura: Live Expanded Cinema Performance by Ivana Larrosa
Floating Aura
This expanded cinema performance combines live projection, video, light, hair, and ritual to explore healing, migration, and belonging. Created in collaboration with sixteen immigrant women on Governors Island, the work transforms filmed portraits through live interventions that merge the body with natural elements of Governors Island.
Hair functions as both conductor and metaphor of memory and identity. Through gestures inspired by rituals, light is projected onto and through the body, reconfiguring each participant’s emotional aura. “Floating Aura” proposes ritual as a collective practice of renewal, resilience, and connection.
Screening of the performance also on view all day on Sunday August 9.
