Systems Unmade confronts the structures shaping contemporary life – media, advertising, political power, and inherited systems of control. Through disruption, distortion, and recontextualization, the artists reveal the hidden mechanics of authority embedded in everyday images and systems. Authoritarianism is never fixed in history; instead it evolves, adapting to new technologies, aesthetics, and modes of influence. In the making of these works, these mechanisms begin to come undone, creating a space to offer an alternate reality. As one work in the exhibition states: It Doesn’t Have to Be Like This.
