ERA Construction Specs & Ruleset
Emami Robotics Alliance | Lightweight Combat Robotics
Based on SPARC Robot Construction Standards

ERA uses the SPARC Robot Construction Specifications as its foundation adapted for lightweight combat robotics. These rules exist to keep competition fair, safe, and accessible for new and experienced builders alike.

What this ruleset covers:

  • Safety - All robots must have a manual power disconnect, visible safety light, and weapon locking devices at all times outside the arena

  • Mobility - Robots must show clear, controlled movement; options include wheels, tracks, walking, shuffling, or non-traditional drive systems

  • Radio Control - Robots must use approved ground frequencies (27/49/50/53/75/900/2400 MHz) with at least two available channels or frequencies to avoid conflicts

  • Batteries & Power - Only sealed, non-spillable batteries are allowed (LiPo, NiMH, Li-Ion, etc.); voltages above 48V require ERA approval

  • Forbidden Weapons - No electrical weapons, projectiles, fire, liquids, entanglement devices, smoke, or hazardous materials

  • Plastic Class (1 lb limit) - Chassis, armor, and weapons must be 3D printed using PLA, PLA+, PETG, ABS, or ASA only; no metal structural parts, carbon fiber, or composite blends

Key safety rules (non-negotiable):

  • Weapons must be locked at all times outside the arena

  • Robots must power down within 60 seconds via a manual disconnect

  • Radios may only be activated with proper frequency clearance from ERA

  • All builders must disclose operating principles and hazards to safety inspectors

If your robot design is unusual or borderline, contact ERA before the event. Safe innovation is welcome; surprises at inspection are not.
