Psychedelics + Dharma with Alalaho
A profound psychedelic experience can change the course of your life. So can a deep Dharma practice.
But together? Something else happens.
That's what this session is about.
Maybe you're deep into Dharma already, and quietly curious about psychedelics — but you can't talk about it in your Sangha without getting looked at sideways. (And you might even be wondering: can I still be a good Buddhist if I take mind-altering substances?)
Maybe you're a longtime meditator ready to go deeper, and wondering if psychedelics might open something up that the cushion hasn't.
Maybe psychedelics have already shown you something you can't unsee, and you're looking for a path that can hold what you've found.
Whatever path has brought you here, you're welcome.
In this session, Jennifer Tessler — registered psychotherapist, Alalaho founder, and Vajrayana Buddhist practitioner in the Dzogchen lineage of 15+ years — will share some of what she's discovered on this path, and lead a guided practice.
Then we'll open the floor for any question you've been sitting with. The big ones, the small ones, the ones you haven't quite found words for yet.
Can I actually do psychedelics and still be a good Buddhist? What do Buddhist teachings really say about all this? Why do psychedelic insights fade, and can Dharma help them stick?
You'll leave with a clearer sense of how these practices fit together, a felt sense for the work we do at Alalaho, and a short practice you can take home with you.
