Real or Fake? Understanding Deepfakes and Their Harms

​This free, interactive workshop from the Deep Truth Project brings Londoners together to explore the real-world harms of deepfakes and AI-generated media, from political disinformation and financial scams to non-consensual intimate image abuse.

​Together we'll look at what deepfakes are, how to detect them, and how they're used to cause harm, with real examples drawn from the UK. You'll leave with a practical toolkit for thinking critically about what you see online, red flags to watch for, and the steps to take if you or someone you know is targeted.

​The session runs approximately 60 to 75 minutes and is designed for mixed adult audiences with no technical background. No devices, prior knowledge, or technical confidence required.
