Turning healthcare booking into an API for AI platforms: an expert briefing with Oliver Kharraz, MD, Zocdoc

​Zocdoc is one of the larger private companies in healthcare, and its latest move changes how it reaches patients. On Sept. 16, the company announced the Care Access Network, which opens the scheduling infrastructure it built for its own marketplace to payors, AI platforms, search engines and review sites. Patients can book directly wherever they search. Partners can connect through data feeds, a developer API for real-time search, availability and booking, or an MCP server for AI-powered experiences.

​Zocdoc says its network now covers more than 200,000 providers and has connected over 20 million patients with care. It names Amazon Health AI, Gemini, Yelp, Healthgrades and Blue Shield of California among its first partners. Blue Shield of California reports a 7x increase in booked appointments since launch.
