Have you ever wanted to sit down and talk with the people behind a local independent bookstore?

​On this Saturday night, we are doing something a little different. No alcohol, no party, no loud music — just an evening of immersive conversations, warm tea, and meaningful exchanges.

​Together, we will gather at one of Taitung’s most beloved independent bookstores, where we will enjoy simple tea drinks and share the books we love, the stories that shaped us, and the ideas that continue to stay with us.

​About the Venue: 街角書店

​街角書店 is more than a bookstore and café. It is a cultural space rooted in the collective memory of Taitung’s old city center.

​The building itself carries a rich sense of history. It was once the site of “Paris Art Photo Studio,” a well-known local photography studio from the 1950s. Later, it was rented and carefully restored by Zhou Zi-chen, a long-time practitioner of local revitalization, who transformed the fading old house into a community living room.

​Through this space, 街角書店 hopes to preserve the cultural spirit and human warmth of the old Baosang neighborhood. Inside the bookstore, visitors will find not only selected works of literature, but also a rich collection of local writing from Taitung, offering readers a deeper way to understand the land, people, and stories of this place.

​More than just a bookstore, 街角書店 also runs a bookstore-manager work-exchange program, allowing book lovers to stay in Taitung while experiencing what it means to run an independent bookstore from the inside.
