Steep Tea, Steep Art
Tea is best when you give it your attention. So is your creative life.
In Chinese, preparing tea with care is called 茶藝, "tea art." Gongfu brewing never rushes the leaf. Short steeps, a little space between each, and the tea opens up gradually, revealing something new every time.
Creativity works the same way. It grows in small steps, with space to breathe and people who care around you.
Come steep with us for a slow afternoon. Over three teas and a few simple prompts, give your inner artist some attention and take a small step forward. We'll reflect quietly, talk one-on-one, and share in a warm, gentle circle.
Your host, Jerry, is a tea nerd who has sourced leaves abroad and hosted many tastings over his four years with gongfu tea. He has also facilitated meditation groups in the Plum Village tradition for five years. He's a multidisciplinary artist, most recently exploring watercolor, risograph, and poetry, and leads Unscene SF, a zine about San Francisco people and culture.
