八月半，鬼门开。
有人说，亡者会在这一天回来。
但离开故乡以后，我们发现，鬼并不只来自地下。
有些鬼藏在慢慢流逝的乡音里，
有些住在没有拆完的行李箱里，
有些跟着我们穿过海关，住了下来。
人渡海，鬼亦渡海。
On the fifteenth night of the seventh lunar month, the gates of the spirit world open.
It is said that the dead return.
But after leaving home, we begin to realize that ghosts do not only come from the underworld.
Some hide inside our losing accents.
Some live in boxes we never fully unpacked.
Some followed us through customs, and stay.
People cross the ocean. Ghosts cross with them.
这个中元夜，我们以中国传统的鬼月与祭祀文化为起点，一起喝酒、讲鬼故事、造鬼。
我们会分享正在创作中的《百鬼渡海》——一本重新想象当代移民与离散经验的中国百鬼录；也邀请你写下属于自己的鬼，将它投入今晚的「百鬼箱」。
This Zhongyuan (Ghost fesitival) night, let's gather around the Chinese traditions of Ghost Month and remembrance to drink, tell ghost stories, create new ghosts.
Throughout the evening, we’ll share stories from Ghosts Across the Sea, an ongoing reimagining of the Chinese hundred-ghost tradition through contemporary migration and diasporic life. You’ll also be invited to name and write a ghost of your own and add it to our Hundred Ghost Box / 百鬼箱.
