Networking with Purpose
Our speaker: Kellie Preston
Kellie is an experienced change and transformation leader, who started her career in management consulting before moving into internal roles. She has a real passion for the health and social care sector, where she’s spent most of her career to date.
Kellie puts people at the centre of everything she does – whether she’s redesigning a process, shaping a culture, or helping teams navigate change. She believes that potential is unlocked when every individual is supported to be the best version of themselves.
Session Outline:
Networking events can often feel awkward – a feeling we probably all know too well. For a long time, Kellie felt she wasn’t “getting the value out” of networking that she was supposed to, and the idea of finding a mentor or sponsor who would skyrocket her career felt a bit mythical.
Upon reflection, at the same time, she’s someone who naturally builds strong relationships and has a wide network of people who’ve supported her both personally and professionally – and genuinely helped move her career forward.
Taking her learnings from this, this session is a space to learn how to approach networking in a way that feels easier, more natural, and ultimately more purposeful.
Key takeaways:
Networking is a two-way street – everyone has something to offer and something they need. To get the most out of it, know what you’re looking for and what you can bring
It’s all about genuine relationships – if it feels forced, it’s probably not the right fit (and that’s okay!)
Your network is likely already bigger than you think and can support you in more ways than you might expect
Networking is personal – do it your way, take what works, and leave what doesn’t
