The field of conservation stands at a critical juncture. Moving forward effectively requires a dual strategy: maximizing impact within today's existing institutions and decision-makers while laying the groundwork to fundamentally reimagine how the U.S. re-engages with international conservation in the future.

​This interactive 3-hour workshop bridges those two horizons. Drawing on foundational research by One Earth Partners and building upon Reimagining’s previous events, participants will test and refine strategic elements of our Playbook. Breakout sessions will focus on Navigating Short-Term Realities (2027) – reviewing and proposing high-level, actionable policy recommendations framed for immediate feasibility, and Building Long-Term Systems Change (2029+) – exploring and testing counter-strategies for shifting political and institutional environments within a reimagined lens.

​Outcomes from this workshop will include a clear sense of what to propose for the 2027 plays in the Playbook, and inputs to the broader Playbook, including insights around localization, intermediaries, award structures, technical assistance, and many other key factors that will impact the future U.S. role in international conservation.

​This is a working session for individuals with a deep understanding of foreign assistance, what worked, what didn't and what could be done better. Space is intentionally limited to ensure productive dialogue.
