Founders, Friends, and Fermentation: RTP Edition
Founders, Friends & Fermentation is back in the Research Triangle.
On Thursday, November 12, we're bringing the Triangle's fermentation and biotech community together for a free, casual mixer. If you build with microbes, run the tanks that grow them, fund the companies that use them, or just want to see how food and ingredients get made this way, come hang out. Startups, university labs, and large manufacturers all work within a short drive of each other here, and this is a night to put names to faces.
Expect founders, scientists, plant operators, engineers, and investors from across North Carolina and beyond. Some are building new food ingredients and proteins. Some are scaling production from a lab bench to a factory floor. Others are making industrial chemicals or using AI to design better microbes. Drinks, food, great conversation, and probably at least one friendly argument about what it really costs to make things in a giant tank. Come grab a pint with us 🍻
Hosted at [venue name and address].
Sponsored by Saku Biosciences and Sable Fermentation.
Saku Biosciences is a UCLA spinout founded in 2024. The company helps businesses get more product out of the microbes they use to make food ingredients, enzymes, and other biotech products. Its technology shortens the time it takes to improve those microbes, which lowers the cost of the final product and makes it easier to bring to market.
Sable Fermentation is a fermentation facility in Wake Forest, North Carolina, founded in 2023. Food and agriculture companies hire Sable to take a process that works in a small lab and prove it in much larger tanks, including the filtering and drying steps that come after fermentation. That lets them test their process and their costs at real scale without building a plant of their own.
Founders, Friends & Fermentation is a casual gathering series for people who work in or are curious about fermentation, biotech, food, and the future of making things with biology. No panels or presentations. Just builders, researchers, investors, and operators getting to know each other in a relaxed setting.
