3D Scanner
Instructor: Bryan
Turn a physical object into a digital 3D model. You’ll learn how to scan an object, clean and process the model, and prepare scanned files for 3D printing or CNC fabrication.
You’re encouraged to bring a small, solid object to scan, no more than 5 inches wide or tall. Soft, furry, transparent, or highly reflective objects can be difficult to scan. No previous 3D-scanning experience is needed.
After you register, we’ll follow up to confirm whether your object is suitable for scanning.
Who can attend
Open to UC San Diego affiliates only, including students, staff, and faculty. These workshops are not open to the general public.
Before you arrive
You’ll need a Sandbox account before using the makerspace. If you don’t already have one, create your Sandbox account in advance so you can spend more time making when you arrive.
If your plans change
Our workshops fill quickly, and places are limited. Please register only if you expect to attend, and cancel your Luma registration as soon as you know you can’t make it. That gives another member of the UC San Diego community a chance to participate.
