Abundance GM: Should We Pass The ROAD to Housing Act? A Debate
This week, we’re debating one of the most controversial parts of the ROAD to Housing Act, a major new bipartisan housing bill in Congress.
The Act aims to boost housing supply through zoning reform and faster permitting, but one provision is drawing sharp disagreement: a rule that would force companies that own hundreds of homes to sell newly built single-family homes designed for renting within seven years.
Some YIMBY and Abundance-aligned groups have opposed this provision, arguing it could reduce housing supply, while others support it as a way to limit corporate ownership of housing. Which side is right?
At this Abundance general meeting, you’ll be assigned a position, work with a team to develop arguments, and make your case in a structured debate.
All backgrounds are welcome. No prior knowledge required. All attendees will research during the meeting.
