NuSession: Engineering at Scale for 127M+ Customers
NuSession is Nubank’s event series, where senior professionals and leaders at the company share how large-scale systems are built and operated. Nubank is one of the world’s largest digital financial services platforms, serving 127M+ customers across Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia, and leveraging data and proprietary technology at scale.
This first Toronto edition, presented in partnership with TechTO, is a curated session designed for software engineers, particularly those working close to backend and platform systems. Nubank's engineering team will share perspectives on how teams design and evolve platforms at scale, collaborate across disciplines, and operate in distributed, high-growth environments.
Through focused presentations and a moderated discussion, attendees will gain practical insights drawn from real production systems and day-to-day decision-making. Designed to be intimate and conversational, the event prioritizes thoughtful dialogue, peer connection, and learning beyond the stage.

Speakers
Renan Capaverde is a General Manager at Nubank, where he leads the Core Banking business unit and previously oversaw the Foundation and Investments platform organizations. Over more than a decade at Nubank, he has progressed from software engineer and tech lead roles to senior director and general manager positions, helping scale the company’s platform and core banking capabilities across Latin America. Renan brings a strong engineering background from previous roles in big data and software development, along with international academic experience in Germany, which informs his approach to building resilient, high-performing financial technology teams.
Daniel Kamakura is a Director of Engineering at Nubank, where he leads engineering for core banking and credit initiatives after joining the company with extensive experience from Amazon and other global technology organizations. He is known for driving high-impact engineering teams, combining deep technical expertise with a strong focus on product outcomes and customer experience in a rapidly scaling digital bank environment. At Nubank, Daniel plays a key role in shaping engineering culture, mentoring leaders, and attracting top talent to build robust, scalable financial services across the region.
Vivian Isuyama is a Senior Software Engineer at Nubank with 9 years of experience and a degree in Computer Engineering. Based in the US, she's currently focused on the company's US expansion — coordinating cross-team integrations, making architectural decisions, and delivering end-to-end features. Previously, she built Credit Card Underwriting systems across Colombia, Mexico, and Brazil. She works primarily with Clojure, Datomic, Kafka, and AWS, and is known for her strong technical ownership and well-documented, high-quality work.
