With NESO's shift to a "ready and needed" grid connections model, projects must now meet both the Gate 2 readiness criteria (secured land or planning consent) and alignment with the Clean Power 2030 capacity targets. As a result, BESS projects will need to be not just ready, but also strategically positioned to secure a queue place.
