​What would you put on a billboard above the BQE? ☁️

​Join artist and creative civic strategist Rachel G. Barnard for a free, 90-minute participatory workshop to help imagine the inaugural artwork for Sky Public, a new community-centered billboard art project in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

​Sky Public is transforming a billboard overlooking the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway into a space for public art.

​The vision is that each year, a Sunset Park artist will be invited to respond to a simple shared subject: the sky.

​For this first billboard, we’re getting very participatory!

​During this playful, hands-on workshop, we’ll generate as many ideas, images, messages, questions, and visions for the billboard as possible.

​You’ll be invited to make your own sky, experiment with words and images, and think about what thousands of strangers passing through the neighborhood every day could learn from us as a community.

​No art experience needed. Come with an idea, or come with none. We’ll make some together.
