Maps, Mobility, & Innovation Mixer
Join us for the Maps, Mobility, & Innovation Mixer, a community gathering designed to bring together the GISMO, Transit Techies, SWARM NYC, NASA Space Apps, and broader urban technology communities.
Hosted at NYU Tandon’s Center for Urban Science + Progress (CUSP) in collaboration with GISMO, Transit Techies, and SWARM NYC, the evening will connect students, professionals, researchers, technologists, planners, designers, and urban enthusiasts working across GIS, transportation, civic technology, urban data, and related fields.
The goal is simple: create space for people who approach cities from different perspectives to meet, exchange ideas, learn about one another’s work, and build new connections.
The program will feature an GISMO OpenTech presentation from Andrew Kittredge of BetaNYC exploring the evolution of civic technology tools toward more open-source, transparent, reproducible, and automated systems. His talk will serve as a starting point for conversations about how mapping tools, transportation technologies, open data, and digital infrastructure intersect in the ways we understand, navigate, and shape cities.
Following the presentation, attendees are invited to continue the conversation over light refreshments, informal networking, and a participatory Map Your Commute activity. Meet members of GISMO, Transit Techies, SWARM NYC, and the NASA Space Apps NYC community, connect with fellow urban technology enthusiasts, and discover potential collaborators across New York’s mapping, mobility, civic tech, and data communities.
The mixer also serves as a community mixer leading into NASA Space Apps NYC 2026, taking place November 13–15 at NYU Tandon and locally organized by SWARM NYC in collaboration with NYU SPS and CUSP at NYU Tandon and members of the New York technology community.

This event will be held in the CUSP Learning Commons, located on the 13th floor of 370 Jay St. Please visit the NYU Tandon website for directions and a campus map. Advance registration through Luma is required for campus access at NYU for external guests.
