In mythology oracles see the future. Blockchain Oracles see off-chain data. They bring data onto the blockchain (on-chain) and this is almost as valuable as seeing the future.
Blockchain Oracles serve as critical infrastructure for decentralized networks by connecting off-chain data onto blockchains. Today, there are many different blockchains but they would be very limited without oracles. While providing new capabilities to Web3 there are some issues. Similar to Maximum Extractable Value (MEV) in block-designs there is Oracle Extractable Value (OEV) that frontruns users before any transaction is even on-chain.
