About Event

*Bring a laptop for the AI for Everyone workshop.

Learn how to use AI better, then join a deeper conversation on what it means to use new technology with Islamic grounding.

About the event

We know that you already know that AI is changing how we work, learn, create and build.

But Muslims need more than productivity hacks, tool lists and trend predictions.

We need to understand how these tools work, how to use them well and how to think clearly about where they belong in a Muslim life.

For the first Pillars Network gathering, we are bringing together Canadian Muslim students, professionals, founders and community builders for an evening built around two questions:

  • How do we use AI effectively?

  • And how should Muslims approach powerful new technologies?

The evening will begin with a hands-on AI for Everyone workshop led by Hamza Varvani, Chief Technology Officer at Zown. Hamza will break down how AI models work, how to prompt them effectively and how to apply AI across school, work, creative projects and building.

The second half will feature a discussion titled How should Muslims AI? led by Hassam Munir, Marketing Generalist at Yaqeen Institute, drawing from the Seerah, the biographical study of the life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and Islamic history. His session will explore how Muslims have engaged new tools, sciences and technologies before, and what that history can teach us about adoption, restraint and responsibility today.

Together, the two sessions will ask:

  • How should Muslims adopt powerful new technologies?

  • What does Islamic history teach us about exploration, restraint and responsibility?

  • How do we build in modern industries without leaving our faith at the door?

About the speakers

Hamza Varvani is Chief Technology Officer at Zown, where he leads product engineering across full-stack development, machine learning and blockchain.
