About Event

โ€‹Welcome to our Book Discussion!

โ€‹In this book club meetup we discuss a book that we read together.

โ€‹This time we discuss a book from Japan ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต (East Asian region): Sweet Bean Paste by Durian Sukegawa (translator: Alison Watts). Read about the book here.

โ€‹Note: availability of English books at local book stores and libraries can be somewhat challenging, so make sure that you start looking into how and where to get your copy as soon as you can! Of course you can also use a digital (pdf/epub) copy of the book. If you struggle to find this book, you can reach out to us: asianbookclubhelsinki@gmail.com or via Instagram DM.

โ€‹During our book discussion meetup

  • โ€‹Together we'll create an open, inclusive space where everyone gets to share their experiences they've had with the book โ€“ reflections, insights, perspectives, and opinions. All experiences are welcomed!

  • โ€‹You are encouraged to make it your own (open and informal) conversation about the book. There will also be some prompts available to help guide and/or deepen the conversation.

โ€‹Our (flexible) program:

  • โ€‹15:00-15:30 Ordering drinks & treats and introduction

  • โ€‹15:30-16:30 Book Discussion

  • โ€‹16:30-17:00 Shares & Wrap-Up
