​Welcome to our Book Discussion!

​In this book club meetup we discuss a book that we read together.

​This time we discuss a book from Japan 🇯🇵 (East Asian region): Sweet Bean Paste by Durian Sukegawa (translator: Alison Watts). Read about the book here.

​Note: availability of English books at local book stores and libraries can be somewhat challenging, so make sure that you start looking into how and where to get your copy as soon as you can! ​During our book discussion meetup

• ​Together we'll create an open, inclusive space where everyone gets to share their experiences they've had with the book – reflections, insights, perspectives, and opinions. All experiences are welcomed!

• ​You are encouraged to make it your own (open and informal) conversation about the book. There will also be some prompts available to help guide and/or deepen the conversation.

​Our (flexible) program:

• ​15:00-15:30 Ordering drinks & treats and introduction

• ​15:30-16:30 Book Discussion

• ​16:30-17:00 Shares & Wrap-Up

​About the Asian Book Club Helsinki

​We are an open, diverse community of (aspiring) readers & lovers of Asian literature. In our book club we read and discuss:

• ​books by authors from an Asian background – including diaspora authors

• ​from all 5 Asian regions – East, Southeast, South, West, Central.

• ​contemporary literary fiction – novels, short stories, novellas, biographical fiction & memoirs.

​All Asian Book Club Helsinki meetups are free of charge. But we ask you to support our lovely (Asian) entrepreneurs of the venue by ordering drinks & treats/food from their cafe menu.

​NOTE: If you can't make it to our meetup, don't forget to cancel your registration to free up space for people on the waitlist!

​A fee will apply for:

• ​late cancellations (on the day of the meetup): €5

• ​no-shows €10.
