​this powerful documentary tells the story of Ellis Haizlip and the groundbreaking public television show SOUL!, which aired from 1968–1973. At a pivotal moment in American history, the show created a rare and radical platform where Black artists, musicians, poets, and thinkers could express themselves freely and unapologetically. through archival footage and intimate storytelling, the film highlights how SOUL! helped shape cultural conversations around Black identity, creativity, and liberation.

​together, we will gather to reflect on the legacy of this visionary cultural space and the artists who helped define it. after the screening, we will hold an open discussion about the film, creating space for conversation, reflection, and community dialogue around the themes it raises.
