About Event

In 2024, we literally wrote the book on engineering effectiveness. Then AI started rewriting how software gets built, so we rewrote that book. Join us to celebrate the third edition of Build: Elements of an Effective Software Organization by Rebecca Murphey and Otto Hilska.

Come for two talks, stay for the conversation with your fellow engineering and product leaders, and take home a copy of the book.

The talks

5:00 pm Honeycomb’s move to AI-assisted engineering — Rebecca Murphey

After putting the final touches on the third edition of Build at Swarmia, Rebecca started a new job at Honeycomb, where she looks after AI enablement in the engineering organization. She takes you inside Honeycomb’s move to AI-assisted engineering: how a larger, established engineering organization is changing the way it builds, reviews, and ships — including the big feelings that come with any change and the trade-offs they’re still working out.

5:40 pm Introducing the Build framework — Roman Musatkin

Roman, Swarmia’s Head of Product and Design, walks through the Build framework, Swarmia’s 3-part answer to the question “how can my engineering organization make the most of our AI investment?” You’ll walk away with concrete ideas on what capabilities to develop, what cultural aspects to pay attention to, and how to measure whether any of that is making a difference.
