D&I Storytelling Workshop
This event is open to NYU Students, Staff, and Faculty only.
Join us for an in-person workshop with Bradley Plaxen, Principle Narrative Designer at Dutch Kills Games. Bradley combines his passion for interactive storytelling with the technical expertise required to bring stories to life in rich, immersive game worlds. Professionally, he has worked on well-known franchises such as Star Wars, Outriders, and Lords of the Fallen, and his academic work has been featured in multiple industry conferences such as the Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI) and the Game Developer Conference (GDC).
In this workshop, Bradley will explore how interactive storytelling skills can be a powerful asset, not just in game design, but also in interviews, presentations, and pitching to investors and customers. Storytelling can make your ideas more compelling, memorable, and persuasive in various professional settings.
Additionally, storytelling is a crucial part of the design process itself. When we create new products or services, the sensory choices we inject into those designs (sights, sounds, textures, etc.) change the subjective narrative of engaging with the work. In this workshop, we will delve into how storytelling serves as a key tool in design, helping to envision future possibilities and shaping the user experience.
This workshop is open to all current NYU student, staff, and faculty and will take place in-person at the NYU MakerSpace located in the Tandon School of Engineering on the Downtown Brooklyn campus.
