Robotics in the age of AI #4|AI
A hand-picked casual gathering for people who build, research, or simply curious about robots and AI. Meet the builders behind Japan's physical AI scene in heart of Shibuya, Tokyo
📅 Thursday, Nov 5
🕒 18:30–21:00
📍 Harajuku (1 min walk from Meiji-jingumae Station)
🎟️ One drink order per person
Why join This is our fourth robotics evening. Our speakers so far: a DeepX robotics engineer, a Telexistence lead engineer, and Sota Miyajima, CEO of Orboh, on humanoids in industrial waste and agriculture. Across the first 3 evenings , over 100 people joined, with CEOs, CTOs and engineers from Woven by Toyota, Denso, CYBERDYNE, Rapyuta Robotics, Hibot and more. Most work in robotics or related fields. The rest came out of curiosity and were just as welcome. Come once and you’ll leave knowing a few more people building in Tokyo.
Tonight's talk (about 10 min each, then open conversation) 🎤
Agenda (JST)
18:30 Doors open, drinks and networking
18:45 Welcome and quick phone poll
18:50 Talk 1: Wilson Gu, OYMotion
19:00 Q&A
19:20 Talk 2: Bassem Gouty, OORB
19:30 Q&A
20:00 Networking
21:00 Close
Wilson Gu (Kojima Ikuo) | Head of Japan, OYMotion
Talk: Human Intention into Machine Action: Dexterous Robotics and Intent Interfaces for Physical AI. Wilson brings an international perspective on how human intention becomes machine action — covering dexterous robotics, intent-reading interfaces, and what it takes to bring physical AI from research to deployment in Japan.
Bassem Gouty | OORB (Open Organic Robotics)
Talk: A Black Box for Robot Fleets: Finding Why Deployments Fail in Minutes. Bassem brings an international perspective on fleet reliability — most teams cannot say how reliable a robot deployment really is, or why a run failed. He shows OORB’s on-prem middleware and on-site stations, which log every run and sync a site into one deployment ledger, so root-cause analysis takes minutes instead of days.
What to expect
🤝 Open networking with engineers, founders, researchers and the curious
🗳️ A quick phone poll to get conversations started
🍻 Good drinks and a light bite
