Robotics in the age of AI #4|AI
A hand-picked casual gathering for people who build, research, or simply curious about robots and AI. Meet the builders behind Japan's physical AI scene in heart of Shibuya, Tokyo
📅 Thursday, Nov 5
🕒 18:30–21:00
📍 Harajuku (1 min walk from Meiji-jingumae Station)
🎟️ One drink order per person
Why join This is our fourth robotics evening. Our speakers so far: a DeepX robotics engineer, a Telexistence lead engineer, and Sota Miyajima, CEO of Orboh, on humanoids in industrial waste and agriculture. Across the first 3 evenings , over 100 people joined, with CEOs, CTOs and engineers from Woven by Toyota, Denso, CYBERDYNE, Rapyuta Robotics, Hibot and more. Most work in robotics or related fields. The rest came out of curiosity and were just as welcome. Come once and you’ll leave knowing a few more people building in Tokyo.
Tonight's talk (about 10 min each, then open conversation) 🎤
Wilson Gu (Kojima Ikuo) | Head of Japan, OYMotion
12 years in banking and nearly a decade in technology innovation, startup incubation and cross-border business development. Today he leads OYMotion’s Japan business, focused on Physical AI, dexterous robotics, human-intention interfaces and industry collaboration. His view: the next chapter of AI isn’t just smarter machines, it’s human–machine symbiosis.
Bassem Gouty | OORB (Open Organic Robotics)
OORB is the reliability layer for robot deployments: an airplane’s black box for the fleet. On-prem middleware plugs into any robot, reads every run, and tells the team how reliable the deployment is, what failed, and why. Mobile stations on site watch the robots from the outside and sync the whole site as one deployment ledger, so you can find the root cause in minutes instead of days.
What to expect
🤝 Open networking with engineers, founders, researchers and the curious
🗳️ A quick phone poll to get conversations started
🍻 Good drinks and a light bite
Who it's for
Robotics and AI engineers, founders, researchers, investors, and anyone curious about physical AI. No experience required.
Host
Nata, founder of AI Recruit. She tracks Japan's tech, robotics and AI hiring data and has spent 15 years in Tokyo working at the edge of tech, AI and community building.
We meet every other week on Thursdays
Let's build a community for everyone building in physical AI.
Want to be part of it?
We’re always looking for speakers, demo volunteers and sponsors. Building something in physical AI and want to show it to the room? Want to support the community? Message me on LinkedIn or email nata@ai-recruit.io.
Wilson Gu(Kojima Ikuo)| OYMotion Head of Japan
Bassem Gouty | OORB(Open Organic Robotics)
