De-Feminizing Birth
Pay what you can/want: $0-$65
Western birth culture acts like birth is inherently feminine due to the colonial propaganda that reproductive organs determine gender, but birth is actually just simple and incredible human physiology.
This one-hour workshop is for gender non-conforming birthers and folks who support trans birthers (including partners of birthers or birthworkers, doulas, midwives).
This is important work particularly in a political climate attempting to criminalize gender nonconformity in all spaces. Separating birth from gender before the birth will help trans folks stay in their body, trust themselves to do the literally ancient work of labor and delivery, and deflect the anxious and feminized birth narratives so embedded in the ideologies of our birth teams (in and out of hospital), our families, and the wider culture.
Topics will include:
-Nuances of dysphoria and self-trust for trans birthers
-The trans superpower of dissociation
-When to restart HRT after birth
-Postpartum: Drying up, binding, lactation in postpartum trans folks, and considering when lactation induction makes sense
-Advocacy tips to confront clinically dangerous discrimination in birth spaces for BIPOC and/or trans folks
