Off the Record: AI Researchers Roundtable Chat w/ Dinner
No talks. No presentations. Just one table and a dozen people pushing the frontier of AI.
A small Roundtable chat coming up with dinner for people doing frontier AI research. One table, a dozen seats, good food, and the rare pleasure of talking shop with people who don't need the context explained.
What are you working on? What's keeping you up at night? What do you think everyone else is getting wrong? Share your work, chat with the group or just listen to the discussions.
The table:
We’re bringing together twelve people actively working on the research questions shaping the next generation of AI.
The table is primarily built around researchers and research engineers from frontier AI labs, research institutions, and technically ambitious teams. A limited number of research leads, AI-native CTOs, and technical founders with direct research experience may also join the discussion.
The current table includes people working across post-training, agent evaluation, multimodal reasoning, model reliability, and AI safety at frontier labs, research institutions, and AI-native technical teams.
This is a researcher-first conversation. Every attendee is personally invited or carefully reviewed based on their current work and ability to contribute to a technically deep, candid discussion.
The Setting
The evening takes place in a beautiful private hilltop home overlooking the Bay Area.
We intentionally chose a relaxed setting instead of a conference room - some of the best research conversations happen away from conference rooms, slides, and deadlines.
One table. A dozen seats. Good food. Plenty of time to think out loud.
Discussion Topics:
Has post-training become the new scaling law?
What still prevents AI agents from becoming reliable?
How should frontier labs measure progress beyond benchmarks?
Can AI meaningfully accelerate AI research itself?
These are starting points, not an agenda. The discussion follows the people around the table.
House rules:
Off the record. Take the ideas, leave the names.
No recruiters, no pitching, no fundraising.
Nothing is recorded, posted, or written up.
Agenda:
4:00 PM: Roundtable discussions
6:00 PM: Drinks
6:30 PM: Dinner
8:00 PM: Whenever it ends, it ends
A note on RSVPs:
Twelve seats, and the table is built around who's in it. Please register only if you're committed to attending. If plans change, tell us early so the seat goes to someone else.
