Problem-Solving Forum: How Chiefs of Staff Think About Their Principal's Time (Rhiannon Horsley)
In this 45-minute collaborative discussion group, CSA member Rhiannon Horsley will share a live challenge around how chiefs of staff approach their principal's time and how it gets allocated across different types of work. Rhiannon is keen to understand how others structure this — from 1:1s and internal meetings to external engagements, focus work, and preparation time — and welcomes input from members who have developed approaches to time allocation in their own organisations. For those in the non-profit sector, she is particularly interested in how fundraising activity factors into the mix.
How the discussion will work This is a participatory session. Attendees will be asked to listen closely to Rhiannon's context, ask questions to surface what sits beneath the challenge, and share practical insight from their own experience. The aim is to support Rhiannon in developing a clearer framework for how her principal's time is split, while creating space for peer problem solving.
Who should attend Members who have worked through questions of principal time management, built or refined systems for categorising different types of work, or helped their organisation think more intentionally about how leadership time is allocated are encouraged to join and contribute to a focused, productive discussion.
