Pastel Nagomi Art: A Mindful Art Workshop
Take a little time out from the busyness of everyday life to slow down, create with your hands, and simply enjoy the process of making art.
Pastel Nagomi Art is a Japanese art form that uses pastel powder and your fingers to create gentle, harmonious artwork. Nagomi (和) means harmony, and the practice is known for its simple techniques, soft colours and calming creative process.
In this beginner-friendly 90-minute workshop, I’ll guide you step by step through the basic techniques of Pastel Nagomi Art and we will create one artwork together.
You don’t need to know how to draw, paint, or consider yourself “artistic”. The focus isn’t on creating a perfect piece. It’s about slowing down, being present, and discovering what you can create.
During the workshop, you’ll:
learn the basic techniques of Pastel Nagomi Art
work with pastel powder, blending, layering, and simple stencils
create your own finished pastel artwork to bring home
experience a slower, more mindful way of creating

About your facilitator
Hi, I’m Fiona, the artist behind Inside Art.
I first discovered Pastel Nagomi Art in 2018 when I attended a class with my daughter. I loved how something so simple could bring such a sense of calm and enjoyment.
After stepping away from my own art practice for a while, I’ve recently found myself returning to creating more intentionally and rediscovering how much I value making things by hand.
Through Inside Art, I hope to make art feel approachable, especially for adults who might think, “I’m just not artistic.”
If you’d like to spend an afternoon creating something just for the joy of creating, I’d love to have you.
