DPDP Awareness Workshop
DPDP Awareness Workshop for Funders
Enabling responsible data practices across the NGO funding ecosystem
Background
The Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act has important implications for organizations that collect, use, store or share personal data. For funders supporting NGOs in India, the implications extend beyond their own internal data practices to how they request, receive, use and manage data from their grantee organizations.
The DPDP Awareness Workshop for Funders is a focused, half-day program designed to help funders understand the key implications of the Act, identify potential risks in their existing practices and explore practical ways to integrate data protection into their grantmaking activities and engagement with NGOs.
Programme Objectives
The program aims to:
Build a foundational understanding of the DPDP Act and its relevance to funders.
Help funders identify data protection considerations in their own operations and grantmaking processes.
Examine how grant reporting, monitoring and evaluation, impact documentation and data-sharing requirements affect NGOs.
Identify practical opportunities to reduce unnecessary collection and unsecured sharing of personal data.
Enable participants to identify priority actions to strengthen their own practices and support responsible data practices among grantees.
