About Event

From Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Istanbul, Türkiye, and Canberra and Sydney, Australia and beyond countries young leaders are working on climate challenges that connect their cities, campuses, and communities.

This Global Shapers-led session brings together city hubs, universities, and climate practitioners to explore what we can deliver together and how to turn those connections into youth-led action over the next 90 days.

Local challenges, shared expertise

Every city has its own context. Urban heat in one neighbourhood, flooding in another, or a campus looking to improve climate education can each offer a starting point for collaboration.

Global Shapers bring community connections, local knowledge, and experience developing projects. Universities bring research, student teams, technical expertise, and tools to understand what works. Together, these strengths can help turn a local challenge into a practical project.

We are exploring connections across Kuala Lumpur, Istanbul, Canberra, Sydney, and other cities, with participating hubs and universities to be confirmed.

What we’ll work on together

Bring city and campus challenges into the room
Explore real climate challenges, who they affect, and what is needed to move them forward from urban resilience and sustainable mobility to climate education.

Build partnerships across cities and countries
Connect Shapers and local practitioners with university researchers, students, and partners. Share approaches that other cities can adapt to their own communities.

Shape practical next steps
Identify who could lead, what evidence or support is missing, and which partners can help turn an early idea into something that can be tested.

Plan for the next 90 days
Aim to identify up to three city or campus action concepts, each with a named lead, a clear partner ask, a first milestone, and a 90-day plan. Proposed follow-up includes a 30-day check-in and a 90-day progress review.

Come with something to contribute

Bring a challenge from your city or university, a project you want to develop, or a resource another team could use. That might be research, technical skills, community access, a pilot site, or an introduction.

Whether you are a student, researcher, city practitioner, or potential partner, come ready to make connections and help move a shared project forward.

Connect across cities. Work with universities. Build youth-led climate action that continues beyond COP31.
