About Event

Already comfortable with 3D modeling? This CNC Milling session is your next step.

You'll get hands-on with our Sorotec CNC router — learning to prepare and run a job yourself, supervised by our trained team. By the end, you'll walk out with a part you milled and the foundation to start building your own CNC projects.

Prerequisite: Hands-on experience with 3D modeling and a CNC project you want to mill.

What we cover:

  • Machine introduction — capabilities, limitations, and the overall workflow

  • Job preparation — stock setup, tool selection, and cutting parameters

  • Workholding — how to secure your material safely and reliably

  • Machine operation — zeroing, loading, and running a job

What comes after:

Come back during one of our CNC office hours to create your first own CNC program and run it on the machine.

What this session does not cover:

Detailed CAM workflow, multi-sided machining, metal milling, or tool changes mid-job. Those come later as you progress.

⚠️ CNC machines at FabLab Neukölln are always operated under supervision of a trained team member. As you build experience, you'll work toward independent machine access.

⚠️ Please note that some of the machinery in the FabLab may be dangerous, and all participants are required to sign a liability waiver before attending.

About FabLab Neukölln

The FabLab Neukölln is a collaboration powered by 42berlin and workish.berlin. It’s a maker space, creative workshop, and hardware lab, right here in Neukölln.

The 150sqm FabLab is split into two. A dirt lab with woodworking and metal working equipment, perfect for making dust and loud noises. Across the hall, you’ll find a clean lab equipped with a 3D printer, laser cutter, and textile lab where your electronics or more delicate projects can come to life.

Our space was created to provide fair access to equipment, training, and community for students, experienced makers, and garage inventors alike. What will you come up with? Apply for the next onboarding session.
