About Event

This panel + networking event brings together leaders from across the investment, startup and policy ecosystem to explore how tech driven innovation and impact-driven capital can shift systems and centre human outcomes in the growth-companies of the future.

Hosted by the Young Lives vs Cancer Innovation Lab, and Chaired by Naomi Timperley, we’ll examine:

  • What happens when we build tech for people, not just products

  • The role of capital in tackling challenges in UK society and shaping innovation priorities

  • Where social systems are falling short, and where innovation might offer leverage

  • How funding and product design can align to shift systemic challenges

The panel brings together a powerful mix of lived experience, investment insight, entrepreneurial drive, and person centred advocacy.

  • Rachel Kirby-Ryder, CEO of Young Lives vs Cancer, one of the UK's leading children's cancer charities, ensuring no family faces cancer alone and has the support to face everything cancer throws at them.

  • Dr Elizabeth Young, Investor at Par Equity, with a background in medical engineering and deep expertise in healthTech and deepTech ventures, she was also a contributor to Creator Fund, supporting the Northern pre-seed ecosystem for students and spinouts.

  • Dr Chris Evans, Anaesthetist, researcher, NHS Innovation Accelerator Fellow, and co-founder of Little Journey, a platform reducing anxiety for children and families through healthcare journeys.

  • Charlotte Scott, founder of The New Monday and Roast My Pitch, former VC investor, and passionate advocate for creative industries and startup fundraising.

  • Chair, Naomi Timperley is an award-winning business consultant, co-founder of Tech North Advocates, and UK Lead for Global Tech Advocates.
